How to Use Witch Hazel for Hemorrhoid Treatment
Witch hazel is made from the leaves and bark of the Hamamelis Virginiana plant. It has been traditionally used as a hemorrhoid treatment because it’s anti-inflammatory properties reduce pain by relaxing the anal veins and relieving pressure. Witch hazel can also be used as a topical treatment to stop the bleeding of external hemorrhoids.
Your painful hemorrhoids are simply swollen blood vessels in your anus. Witch hazel brings relief because it helps shrink blood vessels shrink and reduce inflammation in the surrounding tissues.
How should you use witch hazel on your hemorrhoids?
You can purchase witch hazel online or at your local pharmacy. It is a distilled liquid that is available is many different products. The cheapest way to buy it is in a bottle along with cotton balls or gauze. Soak the cotton balls or gauze in the witch hazel and then apply these gently to your hemorrhoids. Some people like to refrigerate the witch hazel before application because the cool temperature brings additional relief.
While buying witch hazel in a bottle is inexpensive, it is not always convenient. Luckily there are now witch hazel products that are portable, discreet and easy to use when you are away from home. These products include Tucks Witch Hazel Pads, Preparation H Medicated Wipes and several brands of witch hazel suppositories (I haven’t seen these in the pharmacy but they are available online). I usually carry the Tucks pads in my backpack. They are individually wrapped in foil which makes them very convenient and easy to used when I am on the go.
Many popular hemorrhoids supplements such as Venapro, Avatrol and Hem-Relief also contain witch hazel. Many people have found relief using these products and they are quite affordable.
If you’re want to find a natural hemorrhoid treatment, witch hazel is a safe and natural way to help ease your hemorrhoid pain. Look at all of the options to find a product that will work for you.
